So pretty much immediately after I finished my last blog post about how awesome it was to be done with work and how I was just going to snuggle up and eat potato soup for a week...I got a call to start a new project. I've been working the crazy hours again and have had NO time for embroidery or more soup making. Which blows. I have today off and I'm trying to pack all my errands into this afternoon before another busy work week.
Of course once again, it's snowing. How weird is this weather? It was 60 degrees here Friday and today - snow!
But what I'm focused on here is not the snow but the window. I've been putting off finding curtains for the kitchen windows as 1. We're renting and so I just want to keep things cheap and simple and - actually that's it. I just want to keep things cheap and simple. I bought some basic white curtains at Target but they need something. Here they are on the kitchen door:
Clearly - I need to wash and iron the curtains first, but are the tab top curtains a really bad idea? And should I jazz these up with just a patterned border? Or I was also thinking of an applique type project - maybe something with repeating apples that is a take on one of these fabric patterns that I really like:
I don't know - maybe I'll just stick with a border and it wouldn't take much to remove the tabs and make them just a standard curtain. I have a few colorful pics and some pottery in the kitchen:
Maybe a border in bright blue and/or orange? Please tell me what you think - I would appreciate any and all suggestions for making my little rental a bit more homey! I should have time after next week to do some projects (my famous last words) so hopefully I can get going on the curtain jazz up project soon!
I'm off to shop and run some errands. See you in a week!
Update: Kate - good ideas for the curtains!! I hadn't thought of fabric paint! I thought of embroidery but I figured any pattern would probably take too long so I decided to go with applique or a border. I am going to give the fabric painting a look! And the new "about" photo is from the trip to Scotland the Hubby and I took a couple of years ago. We stayed at a castle and went "falconing" but we got to hold all kinds of birds of prey including the pretty little owl I'm holding here.
