Yeah, o.k. - most of this summer has involved meandering walks through the Retiro, laying on the beach in Barcelona (I'll post about that trip next!) or just trying to stay cool through drinking copious amounts of Sangria. But hey - five or ten minutes of every day have been devoted to crafting. I present to you my latest tea towels:
This was an end of the day pic so the lighting is pretty terrible and I am too much of a novice photographer to know how to fix that problem. In any case, for the "Tea" tea towel (HEE!) I enlarged a design from the J.F. Ingalls embroidery catalog that was uploaded over at
Exceedingly Curious. I then added some fancy letters from my
Dover Victorian Alphabets book. I like the end result:
My other tea towel is a Pennsylvania Dutch pattern also from a
Dover pattern book. That book I picked up in Hershey, Pennsylvania which is a trip I should blog about some time because Hershey is the bomb. I have a lot more patterns from this book to use and they are all so cute I think I'm going to make a passel of 'em:
I made some binding for both of the tea towels after being inspired by the binding on Alicia's
Pleasant Kitchen Dishtowels (which is also on my list of things to embroider.)
I have a bigger project that's been in the works but it's still in the super secret phase, so I look forward to blogging about that in the near future. But next up: my summer trips to Barcelona. Stay tuned!
ooh, I LOVE the "Tea" tea towel...and I'm not even crafty:) Sounds like you are still livin' it UP over there! So happy for you!

I love them! The "tea" one especially. You are so good at embroidery that I am almost sick. :) I just started the Alicia's set for a gift. So far so good!
