I've been wanting to try making some embroidered jewelry and found this great tutorial at The Boy Trifecta. I bought the necklace makings at Kailea. She has great products and ships quickly.
I picked a few different patterns - things that I thought my friends would like. I used a cute gnome pattern from Annie Oakleaves, a sugar skull pattern from the Sublime Stitching Dia de los Muertos set, an "L" monogram from the Dover Victorian Monogram book, and a state of California outline I shrunk and fancied up a bit. I also did a little pin for myself with a cat pattern from the Rainbow of Stitches book.
I sketched the pendant size, shrank the patterns to fit and then copied them onto tracing paper. I transferred the patterns to fabric with transfer paper and was ready to stitch.
After stitching all of the patterns I ironed them and then cut a little bigger than the pendant size.
I taped the back up so it would lie smooth and then put the pieces all together.
I love how these came out and hopefully the ladies I'm giving them to will like them too!
