Hurricane Sandy caused a major shut down around our area. The metro wasn't running, stores were closed and the weather pretty much kept us inside. Since I couldn't go to work, and we were tucked up inside for a couple of days I did a little stitching.
First up, I'm working on a few patterns to use for pillows in our basement. My plan is a sort of "Mid Century Cabin" look, so I plan to pair these stitched up denim squares with some Mod pattern fabric. We'll see how it turns out. I was able to wrap this one up during the storm:
The pattern is from Sew She Sews. It's a very cool tri-chem pattern and I loved the colors she used in the one on her blog.
I've also been trying to get a jump on some Christmas crafts. I want to do ornaments this year and I've had several of Posie Gets Cozy's patterns for at least a year. If I wait until after Thanksgiving to get going on Christmas crafts I don't finish anything until Christmas Day or maybe a couple days after. I like to claim that I'm just giving out gifts early for Christmas next year - but no one is fooled. So, I can thank Hurricane Sandy for a little extra down time. I managed to whip out the deer from the Walk in the Woods set.
It's so cute and it came together quickly enough that I think I'll be able to finish a bunch before Christmas.
We did have some downed trees in our neighborhood but overall everyone is safe and things are getting back to normal. We're keeping the people in those areas that were hit truly hard in our thoughts.
I have that on my tree! of course, it took me three years to finish the complete set. You are not alone! :)

Aw - I love that we'll have the same ornament on our trees! My goal is to complete at least one whole set of her patterns this year. We'll see how it goes...one down!
