I have some "must watch" movies around Christmas. It all starts with this one:
Perfect to watch on Thanksgiving day or right after, since the action in the movie all starts at the Macys Thanksgiving Day parade. This movie is sweet, Maureen O'Hara is gorgeous and the courtroom scenes are a crack up.
The next few movies are interchangeable. I pop them in any time between Thanksgiving and Christmas that I'm in the mood:
This flick starts and ends with Christmas. Plus you have Colin Firth AND Hugh Grant. Need I say more?
Once again = Hugh Grant. Lots of Christmastime shenanigans in this movie and the airport scenes at the beginning and end of the movie always make me tear up.
This movie is a crack up. It's a little dated, but it captures the insanity of family gatherings pretty well.
I love this movie! Cary Grant is so charming and Loretta Young is beautiful. I usually wait until all the Christmas shopping and running around is making me feel burnt out. The movie has a lovely message about the true meaning of Christmas and it gets my heart back in the holiday every time.
And the best of the best = It's a Wonderful Life! We watch this every Christmas Eve. It never fails to make me cry. I feel like I should watch it more than once a year as it is such a great reminder to appreciate the life you have and recognize how rich we are in friends and family which mean so much more than money or "stuff".
I hope everyone is enjoying a little down time this Christmas season and maybe a few Christmas movies as well. If none of these movies tempt you there's always a steady stream of fun holiday movies on the Hallmark channel. Merry Christmas everyone!
